Lesson 2 of 5Guide5 min

Edit your text and photos

Change your business details, headlines and photos in My site. Every change saves as a draft until you publish.

Video coming soon. The written steps below cover everything in the meantime.

Everything on your site is edited from My site in the dashboard menu. You fill in the fields, and your template takes care of the design.

How the editor works

The Site content column on the left lists your site’s panels. The right side shows a live preview of your site that updates as you type.

Changes are saved automatically as a draft. The badge at the top says Saving draft… and then Draft saved. Use the undo and redo buttons next to it if you change your mind. Your live site doesn’t change until you publish.

1. Check your business details

Open the Business panel first. It holds the facts every template uses:

  • Business name and Short descriptor (for example, “Plumbing & Drain · Austin TX”). The business name is also your site’s title in Google and in shared links, unless you set a page title in Page settings.
  • Phone: optional. Without a phone number, call buttons become links to your request form.
  • License / credentials, Street address and City, state ZIP
  • Hours (short): write them like “Mon–Sat 8 a.m.–6 p.m.” so Google can show them
  • Weekly hours (optional, under the business details): tick the days you’re open and pick the opening and closing times. Your site can then show today’s hours and “open now”, and Live status can follow them. With no day open, your site shows the short hours line instead.
  • Email, Instagram handle and an Established line (all optional)
  • Google Business Profile link: linking it helps Google connect your site to your Maps listing

Note: A field that needs fixing before you can publish is outlined in red, with what to do written under it. Select N fields to fix at the top of the editor to go straight to the first one.

2. Edit your headline and sections

The Hero panel holds your headline, photo and main call to action. Below it there is one panel for each section of your home page. Open a panel to change its text.

Note: Some templates show headlines best under a certain length. When that applies, the Hero panel tells you the limit.

Every template has its own design, so not every template shows every field. A field your template leaves out says Not shown by and the template’s name; what you type there is kept and appears if you switch to a template that shows it.

3. Replace photos with your own

In any panel with a photo, select Upload a photo, or pick one of the stock photos offered. Real photos of your own work win more calls than stock ones, so aim for at least three.

A photo taken upright (portrait) is shown from its top part in wide spaces like the hero, so faces stay in the picture. For the best fit in a wide hero, use a photo taken sideways (landscape).

Every photo you upload is saved as a web-sized copy (WebP) that loads fast on phones. We don’t keep the original file, so Download (WebP) in Images gives you that copy: keep your originals on your phone or computer.

4. Let AI rewrite a section (optional)

Panels that support it have Edit with AI · 1 credit each. You can rewrite a section, improve the headline or write a service’s description. Pick an optional tone, length or short note, compare the before and after, then Accept, try again (one more credit) or discard. Nothing changes until you accept.

Your plan includes 5 AI credits a month. They reset every month and don’t roll over. If you need more, credit packs are sold in Billing: 25 credits for $5, 100 credits for $15, 300 credits for $40.

Changing your template

Select Change template at the top of the Site content column to see your site in another design. Your content comes with you, including the template’s own small touches if you switch back later. A template built for one trade asks its trade’s own questions on the request form (the car, for a detailing template) only when your site is in that trade; for any other trade, the form asks plain questions.

Your Main and Accent colors come along too. Your fonts stay when the new template offers them; otherwise it uses its own, and the picker says so before you switch. A site still on its template’s own colors gets the new template’s colors. Undo starts over after a switch: to go back, switch back.
